Use the graph of the curve $y = f(x)$ to solve the inequality $f(x) > 0$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

$f(x) > 0$ where the curve is above the $x$ -axis.
The curve crosses the axis at $-1$ , $1$ and $2$ .
It is above the axis between $-1$ and $1$ , and to the right of $2$ .
The inequality is strict and $f(x) = 0$ at the crossings, so leave them out: $-1 < x < 1$ or $x > 2$ , option A.
