Simplify 2n+1−2n3(2n+1)−4(2n−1).
Worked solution (try it first)
Write each power in terms of
2n:
2n+1=2×2n and
2n−1=21×2n.
Top:
3×2×2n−4×21×2n=6×2n−2×2n=4×2n.
Bottom:
2×2n−2n=2n.
So the fraction is
2n4×2n=4, option C.
