A body of mass 3 kg at rest is acted upon by a force of 24 N for 0.5 s. Find the final velocity of the body.

Newton's second law: $a = \dfrac{F}{m} = \dfrac{24}{3}$ , which is $8\text{ m s}^{-2}$ .
