Find the distance between the points $(3, -4)$ and $(-5, 2)$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

The changes are $-5 - 3 = -8$ in $x$ and $2 - (-4) = 6$ in $y$ .
By Pythagoras the distance is $\sqrt{8^2 + 6^2} = \sqrt{100} = 10$ , option E.
