Name the triangle with the vertices (1,−3), (6,2) and (0,4).
Worked solution (try it first)
Call the points
A(1,−3),
B(6,2) and
C(0,4), and find the squared side lengths.
AB2=52+52=50,
BC2=62+22=40 and
AC2=12+72=50.
AB=AC, so two sides are equal.
It is not right-angled, since
40+50=50 and
50+50=40.
So it is an isosceles triangle, option A.
