Find the x-coordinates of the points of intersection of y=2x+1 and y=x2−2x+1 shown in the graph.
Worked solution (try it first)
At the points where the graphs meet, the
y-values are equal:
x2−2x+1=2x+1.
Bring everything to one side:
x2−4x=0.
Factorise:
x(x−4)=0, so
x=0 or
x=4, option E.
