The marks add up to 60, so the mean is $P = \frac{60}{8} = 7.5$ .
In order: 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14.
The median is halfway between the 4th and 5th: $Q = \frac{7 + 8}{2} = 7.5$ .
So $P + Q = 7.5 + 7.5 = 15$ , option D.
