Plane mensuration

A square tile has side 30 cm. How many of these tiles cover a rectangular floor of length 7.2 m and width 4.2 m?

Worked solution (try it first)

Work in centimetres: the floor is 720 cm by 420 cm.
Along the length, $720 \div 30 = 24$ tiles fit.
Along the width, $420 \div 30 = 14$ tiles.
So $24 \times 14 = 336$ tiles, option A.
