Evaluate x2(x2−1)−21−(x2−1)21.
Worked solution (try it first)
Write the second term with the same factor:
(x2−1)21=(x2−1)×(x2−1)−21.
Take out
(x2−1)−21: the expression is
(x2−1)−21[x2−(x2−1)].
The bracket is
x2−x2+1=1, so the result is
(x2−1)−21, option D.
