Solve the inequality $2 - x > x^2$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

Bring everything to one side: $0 > x^2 + x - 2$ , that is $x^2 + x - 2 < 0$ .
Factorise: $(x + 2)(x - 1) < 0$ , so the roots are $x = -2$ and $x = 1$ .
"Less than 0" means between the roots: $-2 < x < 1$ , option D.
