Three teachers shared a packet of chalk. The first teacher got $\frac25$ of the chalk and the second teacher received $\frac2{15}$ of the remainder. What fraction did the third teacher receive?

Worked solution (try it first)

After the first teacher takes $\frac25$ , the remainder is $\frac35$ of the chalk.
The second gets $\frac{2}{15}$ of the remainder: $\frac{2}{15} \times \frac35 = \frac{6}{75}$
$= \frac{2}{25}$ .
The third gets the rest: $1 - \frac{10}{25} - \frac{2}{25} = \frac{13}{25}$ , option C.
