Find $\displaystyle\int (x^2 + 3x - 5)\,dx$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

Integrate each term: add one to the power and divide by the new power.
$x^2$ gives $\frac{x^3}{3}$ , $3x$ gives $\frac{3x^2}{2}$ , and $-5$ gives $-5x$ .
So the integral is $\frac{x^3}{3} + \frac{3x^2}{2} - 5x + k$ , option C.
