Coordinate geometry

Find the gradient of the line joining the points $(3, 2)$ and $(1, 4)$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

Gradient $= \dfrac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}$ .
With $(3, 2)$ first and $(1, 4)$ second, this is $\dfrac{4 - 2}{1 - 3}$ .
That is $\frac{2}{-2} = -1$ , option C.
