The perimeter of a rectangular garden is 90 m90\text{ m}. If the width is 7 m7\text{ m} less than the length, find the length of the garden.

Worked solution (try it first)
  1. Let the length be LL.
  2. The width is L−7L - 7.
  3. Half the perimeter is L+(L−7)=45L + (L - 7) = 45.
  4. So 2L−7=452L - 7 = 45, 2L=522L = 52 and L=26L = 26 m, option D.
