Using the graph of $y = 3x^2 + x - 7$ , find the roots of the equation $3x^2 + x - 7 = 0$ .

The roots of $3x^2 + x - 7 = 0$ are where $y = 0$ , so read where the curve crosses the $x$ -axis.
It crosses at about $x = 1.4$ and $x = -1.7$ .
So the roots are 1.4 and $-1.7$ , option A.
