Solve the inequality $x - 1 > 4(x + 2)$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

Expand the bracket: $x - 1 > 4x + 8$ .
Subtract $4x$ and add 1 to both sides: $-3x > 9$ .
Divide by $-3$ and reverse the sign, because you are dividing by a negative: $x < -3$ , option B.
