Find the gradient of the line passing through the points $P(1, 1)$ and $Q(2, 5)$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

Gradient is the change in $y$ over the change in $x$ : $\dfrac{5 - 1}{2 - 1}$ .
That is $\frac41 = 4$ , option A.
