Find the equation of a line parallel to $y = -4x + 2$ passing through $(2, 3)$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

Parallel lines have the same gradient, so the new line has gradient $-4$ .
Through $(2, 3)$ : $y - 3 = -4(x - 2)$ , so $y - 3 = -4x + 8$ and $y = -4x + 11$ .
Move everything to one side: $y + 4x - 11 = 0$ , option D.
