Solve the inequality $x^2 + 2x > 15$ .

Worked solution (try it first)

Bring everything to one side: $x^2 + 2x - 15 > 0$ .
Factorise: $(x + 5)(x - 3) > 0$ , so the roots are $x = -5$ and $x = 3$ .
"Greater than 0" means outside the roots: $x < -5$ or $x > 3$ , option D.
