Evaluate $\sin 45^\circ + \sin 30^\circ$ in surd form.

Worked solution (try it first)

Use the exact values: $\sin45^\circ = \frac{\sqrt2}{2}$ and $\sin30^\circ = \frac12$ .
Both are over 2, so add the tops: $\frac{\sqrt2}{2} + \frac12 = \frac{1 + \sqrt2}{2}$ , option D.
