Make QQ the subject of the formula P=M5(X+Q)+1P = \dfrac{M}{5}(X + Q) + 1.

Worked solution (try it first)
  1. Subtract 1 from both sides: P−1=M5(X+Q)P - 1 = \frac{M}{5}(X + Q).
  2. Multiply by 5 and expand: 5P−5=MX+MQ5P - 5 = MX + MQ.
  3. Subtract MXMX and divide by MM: Q=5P−MX−5MQ = \dfrac{5P - MX - 5}{M}, option B.
